Gingerbread men & hot chocolate cards

Now I've given these little hot chocolate cards out I can share them on here.
For my card I've chosen red  & gold mirror card which I embossed.  I made little pockets & placed a single sachet of Hot Chocolate & a candy cane which I decorated with a branch from a garland I didn't want anymore. To this I added a berry & a pointsetter  which was cut using a spell binders die & glitter card.
Just to finish of my cards I stamp warm winter wishes on some white card.
The ladies at my craft club were delighted when they received these.

Next I made a larger card using the sizzix gingerbread man die again & made two large cards but the decided for the two ladies that got these cards the would have their hot chocolate in a little cross over box which I found the instruction  on YouTube by Chicnscratch.

The paper I used to make these boxes was called Plum pudding Sherry Trifle. & added the same as I did for the treat cards above.
I just love this little gingerbread man die & use it so much .

Twist & Pop up Birthday card

I've seen a lot of people are making the twist pop up cards & with my sons birthday coming up I thought I'd have a go at making one .
There are lots of videos on YouTube showing how to make one but the one I used for instructions was a lady call Maymay her instructions were very easy to follow.
After I made the pop up card I then had to decorate it .
The caravan paper I chose was by called happy camper by Jillybean Soup.
I used a sizzix die to cut the balloons & added a little bit of brown cord.

The inside pop up I stamped the birthday message & used gold mirror card that I embossed . I stuck two corner pieces on the mirror card so that I was able to tuck some money inside the card for him.

Gingerbread man Christmas Cards

I brought a long  Woodware stamp which has these three Gingerbread men on.
I just had to have this stamp as soon as I saw it .
I've been trying out a few different ways of using the stamp.
I stamped them out on some brown card & coloured in a few pieces of these little guys.
Next I stamped the image out on slightly darker card & cut them out to add to make smaller cards which 3x3 inch, & a good why of using up some scraps of card.

Christmas Wreath

My Christmas wreath was made using three wreath rings brought from Hobby craft.
I love all things Disney related & anything to do with gingerbread men as well.
I first saw this idea of putting the three rings together to make a Mickey Mouse head on Facebook & many people had decorated it mostly in the Disney theme.
I had a few gingerbread men already made up & added them to the wreath .
The gingerbread men I cut from felt using a sizzix die & blanket stitched around the outside.
I went through the Christmas box to get the other decorations which I've wired on.

Christmas Tissue Box covers

I've been busy making some tissue box covers recently .
My first tissue box cover was made using green card & decorating it with Christmas scrapbook paper , a high hopes stamped image,  felt tree & wooden snow flake.
I got the pattern for this cover from youtube .

Next I knitted up three tissue box covers using squares with a moss stitch pattern.
The cover pattern I made up myself which is pretty simple when just using squares & sewing together .
For my decoration on these a knitted a black band for the middle and added stitched on a gold pipe cleaner to make it look like a buckle .
with some white fluffy wool I knitted another band to placed around the bottom of the cover.
The only things I used a pattern for on these covers were to knit the robin, holly leaves & berries, & pine cones, that came in a knitting booklet by Jean Greenhowe.

Using red card as my base I then added scrapbook paper & graphic45 frames.

I also used some  tape along the bottom of my tags.

Two altered dolls Heads for Halloween

I brought two Brats doll heads from my local charity shop for 79p each . I had a project in mine & I thought at that price if it didn't work out I've not lost much.
When I got them home I went straight to garage to find a small hack saw & the hand drill for later on .
First job was to add false nails to the dolls which I brought a box of 100 from the 99p shop.
when the nails were dry I attacked the dolls with a drill 7 hack saw then gave them a coat of Black acrylic paint .
I the dolls dry & them sponge grey acrylic piant on the face, arms &body prats that were showing.
Here are my finished dolls .  I think they will look good in my garden. this year.

Halloween Tombstone #2

This is Tombstone Number two which I've made from a Polystyrene box.
I glued the lid onto the box & placed two half bricks inside so that this would help it to stay in place in the garden & not blow away because polystyrene is so light .
Using black acrylic paint I  gave the box its first coat of paint .
With I small file which I found in our garage I dug away at the polystyrene to make it look like it was well weathered & added a date .

When I was happy with what I'd done I gave the box a second coat of  black paint.

To make the box look a little more like stone  I sponge over everything with grey paint .
I had another box & used the just the lid this time & gave it the same paint treatment but this time carved the words Dead & Gone.
I made a cut in the top of the box so that the lid slots in & can be removed a  later day if need be.
This project didn't cost me anything as the two boxes were found dumped in a layby.

Halloween Tombstones

This year I wanted to add more Halloween things to our garden & thought I would have a go at making my own & plus help to keep the cost down when decorating the garden & hopefully should last longer then some of these shop brought ones.
I started with a thick piece of an old chipboard shelf which was in my husbands garage which I gave a coat of white undercoat.
I then attached some rope with small tacks .
I had a polystyrene circle which came from a pizza base & the mask I got from the works for £1.
I filled the back of the mask with newspaper & then screwed on & then added some more rope around this.
Once everything had been glued & tacked down in place I them  used black acrylic paint all over the tomb .
The next and final steps was to lightly sponge over the tombstone  acrylic grey & sliver metallic paint .
I'm pleased with my first attempt with the tombstone & will be posting more things that I've made all this week so stay tuned in for more DIY Halloween projects.

Halloween Matchbox Swap

I've took part in a matchbox swap with a couple of crafting friends.
We thought we would have a Halloween theme for them.
We used the large cooks matchbox.
I painted mine black to start of with. I used some recollections Halloween paper to decorate the front & inside the box.
The feet I got from Asda a couple of years ago so I already had them in my stash & though they would be perfect to place on top of my box. The bats were cut with a Sizzix die in black card then glitter glue was put on top.
The inside draw I used a printed image ,  tim Holtzs charm & some recollections embellishments  .
Here is the draw & box cover side by side.
I ended up altering two boxes because my friends grand daughter like what we were doing & wanted to join in . Bless her she is 8yrs old.
This is the one I made for her

October postcard swap

The postcard swap on ukstampers this month has the theme of Autumn .
Here is my entry for the swap.
The colours I've used on my postcard are Tim Holtzs distress inks for my back ground & the leaves .
The inks are Rusty Hinge, Fired Brick, & Mowed Lawn.
The stamps used are by Stampendous.
Autumn is one of my favourite  seasons just when the leaves on the trees are turning from green to red & orange & you get the sunlight shining on & through the leaves which is a delight to see before the leaves fall from the trees.

Scrapbook layout called Snips & Snails

A quite & easy layout using one sheet of paper & stickers.
I started of with a sheet of 12x12 paper by 3 bugs in a rug called Snips & Snails.
I've used a sheet of this before in another layout when one of the grandchildren was little.
Its such a nice theme for little boys ,because after all snips & tails & puppy dog tails are what they are made of .
As I was going to use a large photo for this  layout size 5 1/2 x 6 3/4 inch  & wanted it to fit in the circle , I began by cutting a large slit in the top & a smaller one to the bottom left of the circle.
By doing this it  meant I could slip the photo under the circle & make the paper & the photo come together nicely.
Once the photo was in place I added a smile sticker by Bo Bunny & all the other stickers were by Echo Park .
I added a little wooden bird in the tree as well.

Scrapbook Layout Trouble x 2.

I've made this layout for my 8x8 scrapbook.
The boys had just had their hair cut & both wanted the same style.
When their mum sent me this photo of them after their visit to the Barbers  it just reminds me of the Kray brothers.
It just makes me smile when I look at it now.
The paper used is by Prima marketing & Paper Mania.
A bingo card from my stash and a heart held on with a tiny brad .

What's on your work desk Wednesday # 377

Its been awhile since I've join in with what's on your work desk Wednesday.
The time has just been rushing past & I've been having lots of time with young grandsons.
If you would like to find out more about head over to Julia's
My kitchen worktop has become my desk this morning painting a grave stone I've made for Halloween.
It's ok I've not lost the plot yet, it's just that I've got a couple of other project planned for Halloween & need to get started now.
I've put black paint on & with a  stipple brush & sponge I've gone over with the grey paint.
Still got a little more to do yet to it but it's taking shape slowly.
Forgot to mention it made from an old piece of wood.

Ukscrappers layout Challenge

This weeks challenge on http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/ has been set my Sue
Sue wanted us to use this as our colour palette & use this sketch as our starting point.
We also have to make our title a rhyming or repeating two-word phrase.
This is my layout .
I've use the words Squirt, Squirt  which goes well with this theme of using two words phase.
Children really don't need expensive toys to have lots of fun.
This is my grandson washing his bike .
A small bowl of water with a cloth & an empty washing up liquid bottle filled with water to squirt water at his bike .
This amused him for ages.
